Great Langdale is something of a honeypot, and is indeed very beautiful especially in sunny weather. But it's also an excellent compact area for some serious walking.

Old favourites include Pavey Ark and Pike O'Blisco, both of which can also be the start of interesting longer walks. From Little Langdale, the 'horseshoe' walk around Greenburn – taking in Wet Side Edge, Swirl How and Wetherlam – is superb.
