Trekking towards the Torfajökull icecap, Iceland
torfa087.jpg
SteinbogiOn our last day we walk to the Ófaerufoss waterfall, in the Eldgjá area of southern Iceland, returning to Swan Lake in the evening. Ófaerufoss used to be fronted by a perfect natural bridge (steinbogi), as seen in this thumbnail, which finally collapsed in spring 1993. This photo was kindly sent to me by Vincent Lowe, who followed the same route in 1984. Click the thumbnail for a larger image.
